I paint portraits in oil from my studio in Amsterdam, working with private clients and institutions. My focus is on character, expression and the way a person is present in the painting.
I work from life, from photographs, or from a combination of both. The process is discussed together, including size, composition, background and atmosphere.
A commissioned portrait takes time and is built up carefully in layers, with attention to colour, light and expression.
craft & materials
I work in oil on high-quality Belgian linen. I build the painting gradually, paying close attention to colour, light, edges and texture. Some areas remain loose, while others are worked in more detail.

Portraits can be made from life or from photographs, provided they are of sufficient quality and presence.
starting prices
- Individual portrait e.g. 30x40cm: from €1600, 40×50 cm: from €1900
- Group portraits, larger formats or special requests: price on request
- Animal portraits: from €1600, depending on size and complexity
Final pricing depends on size, composition and detail. After an initial conversation, I will provide a clear quote.
how it works
- Initial contact by email, phone, or in my studio
- Discussion of your wishes: size, atmosphere, background, working from photos if needed
- Optional photo session or live sitting
- Painting process: I will keep you updated throughout
- Completion and delivery: the finished painting is handed over or shipped
- Optional final touch: if desired, a small adjustment can be made after completion (e.g. subtle change in colour or detail)
Before starting the painting process, I ask for a 30% deposit based on the agreed price. The remaining balance is due upon completion.
